Graphic Novels Markers on Construction Paper Graphic Novels is an art project that attempts to celebrate storytelling not just in the form of the novel, but also the GRAPHIC NOVEL. So we all know that comics and superheroes and heroines are awesome, but how many of us truly consider comics, or the GRAPHIC NOVEL, “real” or “serious” Literature? And how many of us consider them “real” Art? In this series of pop-up books, I feature characters and scenes from Ghost World by Daniel Clowes, Watchmen by Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman series trespassing upon the so-called traditional and more recognized medium of the novel, defying all attempts to categorize them and inviting readers to not just read between the lines, but look beyond words as a medium for storytelling but to embrace and appreciate good storytelling, regardless of what form it comes in. For a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the inspiration and a little of the process of making this project, check out http://www.astoryisastory.tumblr.com. |
