Fatties on Display Digital Prints on Vinyl We live in a harsh society where one has to be thin to be considered beautiful or “normal”. Women who are not of an acceptable weight are often ridiculed and excluded. Somehow, society draws lines of separation; inclusion and exclusion; discriminating which things fat people are supposed or not supposed to do. Placing the artwork on the floor allows the viewer to symbolically walk all over the “unfortunate” women. “Fatties on Display” liberates these women by allowing them to pursue interests which society normally disallows them from doing. There is a ballerina, a beauty queen and a woman in a bikini. These women bravely trespass the boundaries imposed on them by the society. |
